FAQ

WHO ARE THE TRIP PARTICIPANTS?

We are a group of volunteers, some of whom have global health experience and others who are taking their first international service trip. Our ages cross the life decades from 20’s -60’s. Our skills range across many specialty areas. While most of the participants have been from Ohio, we have had participants from other states who have no ties to Ohio.

Currently, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants and occupational therapists volunteer. Groups also can contain general surgeons. Participation by professions from other disciplines is determined by the local governments, in conjunction with the Alliance Board of Directors.

Spanish language skills are helpful but not required.

Who are the patients?

The patients represent a cross section of ages from infants to the elderly. They have a wide variety of reasons for seeking therapy which include both orthopedic and neurologic conditions. Some of the patients have work related injuries from their ranching jobs.
