Our Mission

Our projects are in the state of Yucatan, Mexico. We are a group of licensed physical and occupational therapists who, along with other health care providers, are committed to working with local staff and patients in international settings. We work in a cooperative relationship with state and local rehabilitation and special education professionals to help meet individual needs.

Our volunteers are adaptable, flexible and willing to share their knowledge, education and skills. We learn from each other and from all the patients, caregivers and professionals we meet.

“Traveling to the Yucatan for a service based trip with Alliance for Health and Rehabilitation was a life changing experience both personally and professionally. It was sheer joy to serve the clients in Panaba and share our skills and foundational knowledge with the clinics. We were both welcomed and genuinely appreciated by the towns and clinics in which we worked. The daily self and group reflections with our cohorts deepened my appreciation for our plentiful resources back home and the depth of expertise that was seated all around me. The trip certainly was not “all work and no play” as there was generous downtime for exploration of local sites, cuisine and fellowship with the group, which allowed for cultural integration that I have never experienced before. I look forward to witnessing the impact of our efforts and being a part of this amazing group again in the future!”
